Saxony Day is sponsored by the board of trustees bearing the same name. The Saxony Day board of trustees was constituted in Dresden on February 22, 1992, and has been accompanying Saxony's largest folk festival every year since.
The board of trustees comprises representatives from 81 clubs and associations, as well as the Free State of Saxony. Matthias Rössler, president of the Saxon Landtag, is the board's president.

During its meeting on June 22, 2015, the Saxony Day board of trustees re-elected Dr Matthias Rössler as its president. Rössler had already been holding position since 2010. The new term will run for another five years.

Lord mayor of the city of Oschatz, Andreas Kretschmar, was elected as first vice president upon suggestion of the municipal umbrella organisations.

The board's work is based on by-laws. Currently, the version from February 4, 2008 applies.
